Frank Wright's Mother (Emma) ran a General Shop, plus sweets and home  made ice-cream, in Bell Street for a number of years which eventually closed in the early 30's. Like most families before the Second World War this small property, and for a while the next door house, was home not only to a small business but also home to 5 children and two adults!
Next door at No. 28 her husband (Alf) also carried out a Coal Merchant business until his horse died and which he could not afford to replace.
As of the time of writing No. 30 Bell Street still looks very similar to the picture on the left, less of course the Lyons Tea sign!
